ABOUT BODYARTS
Masha Balovlenkov-Smith
Founder, BodyArts LLC · 20 years in practice
This isn't a fitness program.
It isn't a rehab clinic.
It's something that didn't exist before.
BodyArts exists in the space every other system leaves empty. The space between "you're cleared by your doctor" and "you actually feel like yourself again."
THE GAP WE FILL
The space between "you're cleared by your doctor" and "you actually feel like yourself again." Between finishing physical therapy and trusting your body enough to live in it fully.
So we built something that didn’t exist before
HOW WE SEE THE BODY
One interconnected system where movement, lifestyle, and nutrition don't operate in separate lanes. Where back pain might have everything to do with what's happening in your gut.
WHAT WE’RE AFTER
The WHAT we accomplish together matters less than this: you becoming the fullest version of yourself. Because the body has infinite capacity to change. No matter your age. No matter your history.
"The body has infinite capacity to change. No matter your age. No matter your injury history. No matter how long you've been hurting. That capacity doesn't expire. It just needs the right conditions to express itself. BodyArts is those conditions."
THE PHILOSOPHY
WHAT WE BELIEVE
"The body is protecting you, not betraying you."
"The painful area is often the victim, not the criminal."
"Before you load it, teach it. Before you strengthen it, connect it."
"If the nerve doesn't talk, the muscle won't listen."
"You shouldn't have to manage your body every day just to get through it."
"Healing doesn't have to happen alone."
Getting out of pain doesn't have to happen alone.
A DIFFERENT PREMISE
If 80% of adults will experience low back pain at some point in their lives, why are we asking every single one of them to deal with it in isolation? Nothing compounds pain like loneliness.
The person stuck on the sofa after surgery, the one who can't keep up on family vacations, the one quietly modifying every activity while everyone else moves freely. They're not just dealing with a physical problem. They're dealing with the weight of doing it alone.
BodyArts was built on a different premise. That healing is more effective, more sustainable, and more transformative when it happens in community. That being seen and normalized - knowing you are not broken, not alone, not behind - is part of the medicine.
She sees something no one else saw.
WHO IS MASHA
People who work with Masha often describe the same experience: she sees something no one else saw. It's part science, part intuition, part something that resists easy categorization.
After two decades working with bodies that had been examined, treated, and discharged by everyone else, she has developed what her clients call x-ray vision. The ability to connect dots that most practitioners don't know are related. The back pain that's actually a gut issue. The shoulder that won't heal because of what's happening at the hip. The pattern that's been running underneath everything for years, invisible until someone finally speaks the language.
Masha began as a pre-med student with a parallel obsession with dance — a combination that gave her a way of seeing the body as both biological system and expressive instrument. She spent years building her practice in Chicago before taking that work to Los Angeles, where her client roster expanded to include everyone from celebrities to competitive athletes to people who had simply been told there was nothing more that could be done for them.
She founded Stand Tall International, a nonprofit that arranges life-saving spinal surgery for children in East Africa, and has scrubbed into operating rooms alongside surgeons. That proximity to the body at its most vulnerable and its most resilient has shaped her understanding of human capacity in ways that go far beyond any certification.
"The body is the most beautiful puzzle ever made. She has never gotten tired of solving it."
Fifteen years in, the work is still evolving. Every client teaches her something new. Every case deepens the methodology. That's not a thing people usually say and mean. For Masha, it's the reason she's still here.
